Emma Kershaw

Emma was trained on the violin and piano at the Royal College of Music, London and has a BA music degree.

STAGE: Recently she played April in Company directed by Julia Mackenzie in a staged radio broadcast with the BBC Concert Orchestra. Lead roles in the West End include Fantine in Les Miserables, Miss Bell in Fame, Mavis in Hot Stuff and Twinkie in Prisoner Cell Block H, The Musical. She also performed in By the Skin of Our Teeth at the Young Vic in London. Other roles in England include Moll in Moll Flanders, Sophia in the world premiere of Tom Jones, Ranyevskaya in The Cherry Orchard, Anita in West Side Story, Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. She has played leads in three productions nominated for Best Musical: The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, Lola in Stone Free and Fraulein Kost in Cabaret.

In Europe Emma played Florence in the award-nominated production of Chess (Copenhagen and tour). She also sang the role of Florence on the latest released double CD of the show. Other leads in shows include Rizzo in Grease, Mary in Jesus Christ Superstar, Mrs Walker in Tommy, Miss Bell in Fame.

CONCERT: Most recently Emma was the guest for Michael Ball at the Hampton court Festival. She headlined in Swingin on Broadway with the RTE Concert Orchestra and in March was the featured soloist on Friday Night is Music Night on Radio 2 with the BBC Concert Orchestra, with whom she is a frequent guest. Recently Emma featured in A Celebration of Cole Porter at the Barbican.
