Iain Mackenzie

Iain started his singing career at an early age as a Chorister in Durham Cathedral. Choral Music soon turned to Swing and he went on to do a degree in Jazz Vocals at The City of Leeds College Of Music and then a Masters at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

He is very much in demand with all the top London bands and often guests with the Ronnie Scotts Big Band, who recently completed a successful season at the world renowned Ronnie Scotts jazz club. Iain also works with top vocal groups including Voxtet, The New London Jazz Voices, The Tim Whitehead group, The Kenny Wheeler Mirror Suite and The Sinfonia Of London Chorus and more recently with South African Jazz Pianist legend Abdullah Ibrahim. With these ensembles Iain has performed at some of the worlds most prestigious venues, including The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, The Berlin Jazz Festival, and The Burj Al Arab in Dubai. He continues to perform at many high profile corporate & social functions all over the world.

Iain’s voice has featured on a number of adverts and publicity campaigns, including the recent Anti Smoking ad campaign on ITV & Channel 4. He also sang on Hollywood Blockbusters including The Mummy Returns and Tomb Raider 2.

Iain is very involved in the nurture of tomorrow’s fresh musical talent, and is currently Head Of Vocals at Vocaltech and Thames Valley University, and is the Jazz Vocal Coach at Middlesex University.
