Stephen Lee Garden

Stephen is the dynamic singer who endeared himself to the British public in December 1988 when he became the runaway winner of the very last I.T.V. Grand Final of “New Faces”, gaining, in the process, maximum marks from both the audience in the theatre, and the nine regional judging panels across the country, but perhaps more importantly the accolades of his show-business peers who praised him for his virtuosity. This success led immediately to the release of his first album ‘Introducing Stephen Lee Garden’, which portrayed his outstanding voice to perfection, followed by appearances on major T.V. shows and engagements in Theatre and Cabaret venues throughout the U.K.

In the spring of 1990 Stephen was chosen to appear on B.B.C. TV’s “Wogan Show” to take part in a “Song For Europe” singing the Mike Moran composition “That Old feeling Again”.

Stephen was born in Co. Durham in the N.E. of England. He started singing at school and later studied at New College Durham where he took an Advanced Diploma in Light Music and started voice training with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music. (A.B.R.S.M.).

Highlights of a busy career have included a Royal Gala at the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford, in the presence of H.R.H. Princess Margaret, followed a year later by an appearance before H.R.H.The Duchess of Kent at a Royal performance concert in Norwich. Stephen toured with the Russian Ice Stars as the only non-Russian performer where he had to learn to ice skate and tight-rope walk in order to play the part of P.T. Barnum in “Barnum on Ice”.

Stephen’s presence is well established in the industry, quite honestly he has it all going for him, he has genuine talent, good looks and something more, a truly remarkable singing voice….It’s an expressive soul-filled voice and one that cries out to be heard.

Sir Tim Rice put it nicely into perspective when he said…”He’s a smashing singer and I think he is a star in the making”.

In his spare time he has many interests to keep him occupied…he loves mountain climbing in winter conditions especially in the Highlands of Scotland. He is a P.A.D.I. qualified Rescue Scuba-Diver, a member of the Advanced Institute of Motorists, and recently trained as a tree surgeon!!! a dedicated enthusiast of the “Choose Life” school of thought.
